Signs Your Forklift Has an Electrical Problem

Electrical faults can appear as starting problems, unexpected shutdowns, false warnings or controls that stop responding. Contact us when electrical symptoms occur repeatedly or affect safe forklift operation.

Forklift No-Start Electrical Diagnostics

A forklift that will not start may have a weak battery, damaged battery cable, faulty starter, failed relay, defective ignition switch, blown fuse, wiring problem or safety-interlock fault. Propane and diesel forklifts may also have fuel or mechanical problems that produce similar symptoms.

We test the related circuits and components to determine whether the no-start condition is electrical before recommending repairs.

Starter and Charging-System Repair

Propane and diesel forklifts depend on a functioning starting and charging system. A worn starter can turn slowly, click without cranking or stop working completely. A failing alternator or charging-system problem can leave the battery discharged and cause repeated no-start conditions.

Forklift Electrical Repair Questions

Why won't my forklift start?
A no-start condition may be caused by a weak battery, damaged cables, a faulty starter, failed relay, blown fuse, defective switch, safety-interlock problem or damaged wiring. Propane and diesel forklifts can also have fuel or mechanical problems that require diagnosis.
Can you diagnose intermittent forklift electrical problems?
Yes. We inspect wiring, connectors, grounds, switches, relays, sensors and related components to identify faults that cause the forklift to lose power, shut down or operate unpredictably.
Can you repair forklift wiring at my location?
Many damaged wires, connectors, battery cables, switches, sensors, lights and warning devices can be repaired at the customer's location. Extensive wiring-harness repairs may need to be completed at our Victorville shop.
Do you repair electrical problems on electric forklifts?

Can a fault code tell me exactly what part needs replacement?
Not always. A fault code usually identifies an affected system, circuit or operating condition. Additional testing is often necessary to determine whether the cause is a failed component, damaged wiring, poor connection or another problem.
